![]() I've always been a huge fan of the Spyro games (there were three of them on the PSOne, and you can buy them as a trilogy for around $40 now). I can't say how much fun they truly were, but they just kept getting better and longer. So, naturally, I'm more enthusiastic about this game than other games I have written previews for. I do know that there's a fairly large fan base for the cute little dragon that you can't help but love. The main plot for this game is about the same as the other three were. Spyro's dragonfly friends have been kidnapped, and the motive of the abduction is that they were supposed to guide the dragonfly youngsters, as they are the source of Spyro's dragon magic. So, along with long-time friend Sparx (and other old friends like Bianca, the professor, Hunter, and ZOE), you set out on a quest to find your dragonfly friends, and stop the evil bad guys from causing any more trouble. Basically this story will be used again, but obviously the enemies and challenges will be much harder. The PS2 version of Spyro will be a little different than its earlier versions, but it'll probably overall be what you expect. Spyro will have the fire breath like he did in the earlier games, but there will also be three new breaths: ice, electricity, and bubble. These new breaths should be pretty fun and interesting to play with and use. The new breaths are important to the game, as they will help you solve puzzles, kill enemies, and rescue dragonflies. Another new weapon he'll have is super head smash, which will help you with the bigger baddies you'll encounter. This move is kind of like the head smash in the GBA version of Spyro. There will also be mini-games galore, vehicles, and 25 levels for you to have fun with. There are less levels than the other games, but they'll be much larger and more enemies to fight. So it could take a little longer for you to go through the levels. Also in this Spyro game will be better graphics, which will suit correctly to the PS2 version, this one should be much better graphics wise. But then again graphics have never been too much of a problem in any Spyro games in the past. There will also be new sound effects for Spyro's new moves and levels in the game. The music and sound effects have both been changed completely well for this new Spyro game. If you're a big fan of Spyro or this type of game, you'll have a lot to look forward to. I know I am looking forward to this new addition to the PS2 and my Spyro Collection. Our favorite purple, adventurous little dragon will see the PS2 for the first time in November of this year, just in time for the holidays. So not much longer to wait, but Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly will be worth the wait time period. Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly will be a great addition to the PS2 and one of the most worthy games of this year. |
