The Environment
Physically interacting with characters is the highlight of the game. Whether you have to grab a tech for information or using a commando's eye for a retina scanner, to open a locked door. When you can open a door or any interactive thing there will be a text prompt displaying whether the door is open or locked etc. When Sam grabs a character he will but his arm around his neck and his gun at the throat. You can also hit x when you have a character grabbed, which will allow Sam to shoot using the grabbed character as a body shield. Not only is that cool but allows when Sam grabs a character and forces him to a retinal scanner, all you have to do is hit the A button and Sam will do the rest for you. After your done and you don't need the character hit the left trigger and Sam will smash his head with the butt of his gun. This is a handy thing to do when missions are not fifth freedom or you can kill anybody.
When in splinter cell there will be light and dark places of course. The lighting of each area/level makes the game unique and gives it personality. As you progress darker areas become a little bit harder to find and stake out in. Shooting out different lights is not new at all but how you use that opportunity is very different. Shooting out the lights until you have complete blackness on your TV except the looming glow of Sam Fishers goggles and radio. This has never been done before. The enemies cant see anything but Sam can with his night vision goggle; he also has thermal goggles, which allows him to see heat. Seeing heat allows fisher to get a pinpoint accuracy when shooting at someone's head.

Sam's Moves/Camera systems
Sam has so many different moves he can do. Moves to keep Sam undetected and to have an upper shoot and some of the more difficult enemies as well as difficult obstacles. You don't have to worry about not know how to do them, the first thing you do in Splinter Cell is train your self to know what to do in a specific time in the game. In Splinter Cell your gun is secondary, you will sped more time shooting lights and cameras then shooting enemies. Don't get me wrong, you will use your gun, it's up to you to do what you think is right, what you think is easiest.
The Camera is a nice feature Sam can use to locate guys. There are two different cameras' the sticky camera and the division camera. The sticky camera sticks to walls for Sam to see what he can see normally. You can rotate the camera 360 degrees, all this camera really does is for you to see if there are any guys around the corner etc. The Division camera is a whole different build. This camera is the same as the sticky camera for the most part but it's got to unique features, a sound to distract the guards, and let out smoke to knock him out. This camera is nice to use when the mission says you can't kill anyone and if you want to take out multiple guards. With out a radar this is the key to peek at guars around corners etc.
