REVIEW: by Kazooie

This game seems very familiar to another game you might have played before, Crazy Taxi.Crazy Taxi is obviously the game that gave the developers took the ideas for this game. You drive around, pick up well-known Simpsons characters, and deliver them to well-known places in Springfield, it's almost taken directly from Crazy Taxi. This is a really great game, especially if you are a Simpsons fan. This game WILL make you laugh out loud, because the voice acting is so hilarious. But, if you played Crazy Taxi heavily on your Dreamcast, PS2, or even Gamecube, this may not be the game for you.

This games presentation is overall very good. The menus are functional, and good looking, and its fairly easy to get around. The cartoons in 3-D are pretty good to look at, and are really funny. Plus the voice acting by the real actors is a major plus. There are 4 main modes; Road Rage, Sunday Drive, Multi-Player, and Mission.

This game has some pretty bad graphics though, that's one of its main problems. At sometimes, it feels like you are playing an N64 game. The pop-up can be annoying at times, and the textures range from super clean, to N64 blurry. The geometry is hardly impressive, and the only thing that seems to be really cel-shaded is the car that you drive. The jagged edges bother me a lot also, they should have used the Gamecube's power to anti-alias it, but rather, its a direct port of the PS2 version. While the graphics in no way affect the gameplay, they aren't anything special. One plus though, is that they stay at a steady, blazing fast frame rate, and they to recreate Springfield quite well. I haven't been able to play the PS2 or XBOX version, but I imagine they are all very close graphically

The Gameplay of this game is very good, its probably the best part of this game. The game plays flawlessly. It play exactly like Crazy Taxi, from the moving lines around your destination point, to the enhanced physics. They did add a few things into the gameplay, like sometimes when picking up a character they ask you to avoid traffic, so if you hit more than 3 cars on your way to the destination, you lose out on $250 bonus points. Sometimes, they will ask for the opposite, and you will have to destroy a set amount of objects to get a $1000 bonus. This type of gameplay never gets old, and you could definitely play for hours upon hours unlocking extra vehicles and the 6 HUGE levels that are in the game. Each level includes many familiar places, and the largest, and most entertaining level, Downtown, contains a horde or Simpsons locations. Luckily, they have included a very cool Sunday Drive mode where you can simply drive around at your own pace.

This game is really fun. If you are a Simpsons fan like me, you'll enjoy this even more. The lines that the characters say are really funny, but do get repetitious, and you start memorizing everything they say. To a Simpson's fan, there are some many recognizable people, and places, you'll enjoy just driving around, looking at the people, and locations, and just exploring. You'll find places like Moe's tavern, the Simpson's house, the Kwik-E-Mart, and Jebodiah Springfield's statue, which you can decapitate by running into it, and so many more locations taken directly from the TV show.

The Multi-Player mode is adequate. It doesn't try to go above and beyond the normal game, basically its a head to head, whoever can earn a set amount of money the fastest match. You can only play with 2 players, and the split screen is quite annoying for this type of game. You'll have more fun taking turn on Road Rage mode, earning extra vehicles and levels.

This game, once completed (all 17 vehicles, 6 neighborhoods, and 10 missions) won't be very exciting. By the time you complete the game, you probably will seldom come back for more. For this reason, I only recommend a rent, unless you are a die-hard Simpsons fan, and crazy taxi fan. It does in fact have more replay than Crazy Taxi though, because of the 6 levels, rather than the 2 on Crazy Taxi.

This is obviously a slightly favored score, partially because I am such a fan of the Simpsons. To the casual watcher, or someone who never watched the show at all, it is still a lot of fun, but it looses a lot of the excitement. So as you can see this game has its good points to its really bad points. I hope you'll have fun playing this somewhat irradical game.

Presentation
The game itself looks alright. It's simpsons. I'm sure everyone gets what I'm saying just by that.
7.0
Graphics
The graphics are nothing spectacular. But, they fit the simpsons gamestyle.
7.0
Gameplay
Simpsons road rage is very similar to Crazy Taxi. Same gameplay. But it's fun to substitute your favorite simpsons characters in and hear their wacky jokes.
8.0
Overall
If you've played Crazy Taxi, then you've played this game. It's fun and humorous. But nothing worth the buy. Unless of course, you are a crazy simpsons fanatic.
