Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow

Preview by: Nick

Did you think Sam Fisher would be back? Well he is, in Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow. For those of you who played the first game you might not have been expecting a stealthy type of gameplay. But stealthy gameplay is not all it had; it had a very intense story line. Pandora Tomorrow has a similar story although UBI Soft thought that their first games story was too tricky to follow, which they are keeping in mind while making the sequel.

First, they have fewer characters and more depth in the game; which may turn out to be better off anyway. Pandora Tomorrow still has Lambert (Fishers agent) and he still has the same voice as well as Sam himself. In this sequel you may get to know the characters better, due to there not being as many characters. We also believe this isn't the last time you will see these characters, UBI has future plans up their sleeve.

We don't know a lot about every detail yet, but what we do know is the gameplay. If you liked the first games gameplay, you will love Pandora Tomorrow. Your motive is still to lurk in the shadows and make your moves. Sam also still has a lot of his gadgets to help him accomplishes his motives. But lets get to the meat of the subject, what's new? Well for those of you who loved Sam's moves in the old game you will love the new moves he has, UBI has come up with some good ones let me tell you. One of Sam's coolest moves is a variant on the famed split jump. This time after he props himself up he can move into different directions, and from those stances he can jump to other areas; which is a nice animation. UBI has made 100+ new animations for Sam, for an example lets say Sam is jumping in a vent, now he will slowly work his way down. Its just little tweaks like that which make the experience better.

The graphics are huge! Even though the same graphic engine was used they still have made visible improvements. Sam looks better then ever with his arsenal of weapons. The backgrounds to the environments look superb, nicely improved. The lighting effects too are still there, just as impressive as the first, if not better. Clearly UBI knew what they where doing, and made some very astonishing improvements to the graphics themselves.

Shall we talk about espionage? As we all expect high tech gadgets are a must in this game. The most astonishing new gadget is his pistols laser cite. One thing about the old game was you could never guarantee a headshot, but now with Sam's laser sight you can almost guarantee a headshot. As you probably well know this gadget projects a beam of light on to your target, this will allow you to perfectly setup a headshot. Although there are a few disadvantages of the laser, well for one your enemies can see it and track you fairly easily. Another cool upgrade is the "Worm" camera, used for seeing behind doors of all kinds, but this time it will have night vision and thermal cam. In a way the worm camera is like the fiber optic cable that you stuck under doors, but is has way more features then the cable had.

In the first Splinter Cell you sometimes had corridors leading to more corridors, which lead you from point A to point B. Although in Pandora Tomorrow UBI left you to decide what "you" the gamer wants to do. They left it in your hands, good thinking UBI. So the Decisions are up to you to make whether to pull that lever or to go around it, its up to you. Are you ready for that?

But here is something you probably didn't even think of. Have you ever imagined having a multiplayer game with stealth; imagine walking around sneaking up on your foes and surprising the heck out of them. Well as many of you probably know already, Pandora Tomorrow will have a multiplayer, cool huh. It has been stated that the multiplayer is 1st person V.S 3rd person. You can use your goggles, what would it be if you cant…. not sure if your foes really there, is he to far into the shadows, then use your thermal vision. There are two types of people you can be: Spies or Mercenaries. The spies have no lethal attack but they can sneak up and attack, but the Mercenaries are all about firepower.

Pandora Tomorrow is the next generation stealth action game. Pandora Tomorrow also has one of the most innovative multiplayers ever achieved. It has a way more steady and focused storyline, has more and new gadgets to work with and has fantastic graphics/visuals. Overall you will being impressed, I leave you with that.
