![]() Burn out is not only fast; it's an adrenaline rush of fast pace driving on highly populated roads, with intense cross traffic. You spend most of the time trying to get near misses and huge drift slides to earn you more on the burnout meter. But suddenly, when you lest expect it, BAM! Glass flies everywhere after you hit an on coming car. Then you find yourself yelling, "dang it!" Now you have to work up the burnout meter again, that's the story behind this wonderful game. ![]() The gameplay is unlike most racing titles. The main goal is to work up your burnout meter by avoiding on going cars as well as cross traffic and slow moving vehicles. Once you have your burnout meter full, you go into a warp at fast speeds. This is where the graphic engine like the engine in grand theft auto kicks in. The first time you get two burnouts in a row, it's an adrenaline rush. This is where you're going more than fast, you're going insanely out of control! There are several game modes in Burnout. Championship, which sends you across locales, based on European and US locations; Single player mode to practice the tracks you've raced in previously. There is also a head to head in 2-player mode, and the final game mode is special. You can indulge in secret modes you've unlocked. But, the biggest mode is the championship mode. You race many different tracks. You'll be racing, usually, in three-race competitions. It's a bit tricky, as you have to place in a predetermined spot or higher. As you move through the championship mode you will earn special match-ups under the Face Off mode. New cars can be unlocked by defeating the CPU driver of the vehicle in a head-to-head racer. You don't race through any new tracks, but there's something about taking on just one AI racer, instead of four, that feels a bit different. After that, you will open up something called free run, which is much easier than wavering in between traffic. This will give you a run for your money. In this mode you are not crashing every 40 seconds. ![]() The graphic engine is much like the one in grand theft auto 3, which makes it pretty good looking. The speed of your car when you're taking it up in to higher gears is amazing. It looks like you're flying through the streets! It's very well done. Not only do the cars and surroundings looks good, but the crashes look great as well. When ever you hit a car you can see the fire, the glass the smashing off the hood of your truck or car, the shredding of the tires, and just about every little detail is in there. You can't go wrong with the car models. All of them look very smooth and slick. The road really looks like it's true asphalt, in real life. The graphics are truly superb. The sound is very well done. Glass breaking, tires squealing, metal smacking against metal or cement, you name it, the sounds are there. From the woooof of your car flying by others, to the crashes of your opponents hitting on-coming traffic. It's all there. Overall, Burnout is very fun to play. Although, very stressful towards the end, the gameplay is very well done. The graphics are superb as well, fully detailed crashes looks just phenomenal. You can't go wrong with this racer, it's not like any other racing game. It's more like an adrenaline rush of speed while trying to ignore on coming traffic and also the slow traffic. I would definitely go pick up a copy of this title for the Xbox!
