Review by: Kazooie

All my life, I can't say I've really gotten a chance to play a Bomberman game. Maybe every here and there I've played about a minute's worth to play on a friend's Gameboy, but that's about it. I've no clue how it's cute anime-like appearance never pulled me in before. Eh, so I bought Bomberman Generation (BG) because I thought I'd give the little guy a chance.

This is the first bomberman game that uses the cell shading (cartoony flatish 3-d) animation technique, and I must say the cell shading in this game is superb. Everything is cell shaded, such as bomberman himself, the trees, the enemies the backgrounds, ETC. Really everything is cell shaded. However cell shading is a very acquired taste (kind of like sushi :) So if you like cell shading than These graphics will get a perfect 10 however if you don't, then I don't suggest you buying the game.

The designs of the enemies, levels, and characters, are, well, what else would you expect? BRILLIANT! With all the gory, language-filled and realistic games I've played (Doesn't mean I dislike cute games though ^-^) these are at the top. Everything is so damn cute! Even those enemies that follow you around until you pull out a bomb are tempting to go out and just give the TV a hug. However, I did notice that some of the Charabom, for some freakish reason, look like they're out of one of those ''mon'' series.

The story is a bit bland, and not the most original thing I've seen. But it goes likes this: A space ship carrying the Bomber Elements, which chrystals with secret powers, has been invaded by the HIJE HIJE (pronounced Hik-e Hik-e) bandits, and the Bomber Elemants were sucked out into space and fell scattered around planet Tentacalls. The HIJE HIJE bandits and another rival of yours, the Crush Bombers, are after the Bomber Elements. It's your job to find and gather them before the HIJE HIJE Bandits and the Crush Bombers do. I think Hudson can come up with a better story then this, what makes it worse is that the guy who narrates the whole thing pauses in the middle of sentences, making it a wee bit harder to fully understand.

I loved the music. The music is wonderful. Although not the kind of music that is stuck in my head for like a year until I literally bash my head into a brick wall, but, it's still semi-catchy. The sounds are all cute, even the bombs exploding in an enemies' face. Although the little girls' voice you hear every once in a while (like at the title screen, ''BOMBERMAN GENERATION!!!!'') is a little err... annoying as freaking hell!, the audio is still top-notch.

I'm still having trouble figuring some things out. Eh, but maybe it's just me. The controls are at a moderate difficulty to learn, and are usually responsive. HOWEVER, there have been a few cases where I just didn't push the button hard enough, or the game was being un-responsive.

I did not like, however, a lot of the special abilities type thingies, are confusing to learn. I'm still having trouble trying to set down a bomb in front of my character.

In battle mode, the control is a little different, but is still about the same level to learn if you've just picked up the game and choose Battle mode before the main mode. I HATE however, when like, IE: I have to go in one of those little floaty things at the side of the board and shoot bombs at the board if I am to die during a round, the control, I'm just not used to.

The first few levels are easy, but they quickly change. I was stuck on some later levels for what seemed like hours, trying to figure out what to do. The Charabom battle is probably one of the hardest things to do for me. Though you don't really control

your Charabom, it's hard for me to choose what three actions I want my creature to perform, since usually I've no clue what the enemy is going to throw at me.

Overall this is one of the best games released for Gamecube in a while. Its graphics are extremely well done so that they make the game much more enjoyable. And it has a good plot. I give Bomberman Generation for the Gamecube a 8/10. 8/10

Presentation
The game's presentation is alike of the past bomberman games.
8.0
Graphics
The game's graphics aren't to shabby, but they could improve a tad more. The graphics look a little flat and cartoony.
8.0
Gameplay
The controls are at a, shall we say, "high-difficulty level." They seem hard to master.
7.0
Overall
The game's graphics are a little flat and wierd, but the game is well developed and has a relitive fun factor.
