![]() REVIEW by: Sean Lucas INTRO: From the people who brought you NFL Blitz, Midway, have brought you another add on to their incredible epic of over the top games with NHL Hitz 20-02. At first, I was a little skeptical of an over the top, 3-on-3, hockey game but after a couple of days, it grew on me. Now I am eagerly awaiting the next installment of this incredible saga. FEATURES: · Exclusive adrenaline-stlye 3-on-3 gameplay featuring more that 1000 high inpact motion- captured moves more beautifully detailed player models. · Hard-checking action so fierce it literally sends players over the board, through the glass, and into the seats. · In-game Jukebox featuring hit songs from Limp Bizkit, Korn, Fuel, Staind, and more. · First Generation 3D crowd cheers you every move and reacts to the action on the ice. · Incredible hidden fantasy rinks, players, and unlockable teams. · Officially licensed product of the NHL and NHLPA, including all of your favorite NHL teams and star players. GAMEPLAY: The gameplay in NHL Hitz perfectly fits what the developers had in mind when there first started creating it. A fast pace, adrenaline pumping, hard hitting, over the top hockey game. Not only that, but the controls are very nice and extremely easy to get used to. One of the best parts of this games is playing regular games for points to buy things, such as, rinks and teams, which helps tremendously in the replay category. With many different modes to choose from, from Franchise mode, which is where you are the owner and create and manage your own team, to the extremely challenging skills competition, this game will keep you busy for a while. It also has the classic features of NFL Blitz, such as being “on fire” and speed boosts. Another great thing about this game is its multi-player. What could be better then smashing a sibling or friend through the glass and into the seats? GRAPHICS: The graphics are somewhat astounding and astonishing. With one of the first sports games to use a full 3-D audience and fully detailed players, it is something to “wow” at. There are also many different special affects that are also pretty amazing, like lighting bolts and fireballs. This is one of the best graphical games I have seen in a while. SOUND: This is one of the best parts of the game. Playing to some of you favorite bands, such as Limp Bizkit, Korn, Fuel, Staind, and many many others, no wonder it’s one of the best parts of the game. It doesn’t stop there. The announcers rarely ever get dull and the only bad part about them is they frustrate you a little bit when you are loosing but that was one of the purposes of them when the game was created. The crowd back round is also pretty good, not anything great but pretty good to the standards of other crowds. REPLAY: This also is another great part of the game. One of the biggest parts of the replay value, of this game, is it’s multi-player. One to be compared to James Bond: AUF and Super Smash Borthers Melee. Another big factor is Franchise mode and the point mode. Trying to unlock everything in the game can be a very big challenge. CLOSING STATEMENTS: From its great gameplay to it’s incredible replay value, this is a must have, especially if you are a hockey fan or if you just like over the top games. Whatever the case, make sure you have this have this game in your GC collection.
