FIFA 2002 Review by: Kazooie

Fifa 2002, to put it simply, is quite an amazing sports game. NBA Street was also an awesome sports game that I like still much better, but this one actually has some competition with it. It has everything you want in a sim, with lots of modes, teams and options. The main modes in this let you do one of several seasons, qualify for the World Cup in 4 regions, or enter one of several tournaments. There are lots of options for game play such as the amount of time in a half, referee strictness and weather. A creation centre also exists where you can create your own player, team or league. Top it off with a great soundtrack and some interesting extras like a blooper video, there is no mistaking that EA did a great job here.

A fun soccer game, First thing the control is very accurate, as you can aim your passes and they will go almost perfectly. The only problem with control is the perfection, which is not typical of soccer. But don't worry; you will not bash your controller in for wrong buttons. Now the game play is really good also as you can take any team throughout their league, to win there personal tourney, or qualify your team for the World Cup. The only problem with this, because of the year it came out, there is no World Cup Tournament, which would have been really nice. You may also create a team and its players if you know NOTHING of professional soccer (like me, even though I do play it) just so you can cheer on you and your friends when they score, or get mad when they screw up. This is a nice add on, which gives it a personal value. There are also Pamana (or something like that) covers you earn when winning your league and things like that. All in all, this game does give you much to do.

The best graphics I have ever seen on a soccer game are DEFINETELY for this game, hands down. The graphics are simply amazing in this game. After you score, the close ups of the players are simply amazing. The crowd is also well done, and you can make out specific people at some points of play.

The audio is good as well. The game has a nice upbeat soundtrack, and a large selection of commentary. Sound effects are also top notch, with the sounds of kicking the ball, players sliding for the tackle, crowd noises etc. The one problem I have with the audio is that some of the commentary is hard to understand, but there are so many different things said you wouldn't notice it that much.

Another great thing about this game is the number of clubs in it. Ranging from the Scottish League, to Major League Soccer, to the German clubs and the English Premiership, so don't worry that your club of choice is in this game, as it sports over 400. However, some players of the qualifying teams are missing, most likely because they made the game before all the teams were announced. Don't worry though; all the clubs have all their players in the game, so you should be able to find your favorites.

The creation area is good, but some more options would have been nice. Still it's fun to create your own players, teams and leagues, and there should be enough options there to satisfy most people.

The game has several tournaments to unlock, and so there is some replay value here. However, most things are unlocked by completing the World Cup qualifying in the various regions, and I would have liked it if there was some reward for doing the various leagues in the game.

This is not a bad game at all, for this game is wonderfully fun. I would highly recommend buying it if you are a fan of soccer, and I would definitely recommend looking in on it even if you are not a fan of soccer. All in all, this is by far the best soccer game ever made that I've played.

Presentation
This soccer style game has plenty of modes, teams, and options to keep you happy.

Graphics
Some of the best graphics ever put out by a soccer game are clearly represented by this game.

Gameplay
The controls are very accurate. Maybe a little too accurate.
8.0
Overall
Overall, this game is basically like any other standard sports game out there. While there isn't anything special to it, it is very fun.
